So I researched on other ways to program a AVR and I stumbled upon the idea of using a serial port to program it. But I couldn't use the USBasp to program my chip. Note: no need to install install Prog ISP just unzip the file and click on progisp.exe executable file to launch the software. There are lots of softwares available on internet.Software which we find easy to use with all features is Prog ISP. just use avr dude, compile from codevision, use avrdude or extreme burner for flashing.
